Arguably there is no better way to witness the dramatic and breath taking views of the Afan Valley in South Wales than from our Shepherd’s Hut. The beautiful interior comprises a 5kw wood burner, double leather sofa bed and a fitted double bed – complete with orthopaedic mattress to ensure a restful sleep. You can choose to sit outside or inside at the 4 seater table.
Imagine those cold crisp days and nights in the warming orange glow of a wood burner – relax as you listen to the gentle crackle of the logs burning. You’ll find our insulated Hut an ideal choice whether you are in need of peace and quiet to work, read, or simply to use as a base to explore South and Mid Wales.
Outside there is seating next to the Firepit ready for you to toast your marshmallows! It’s quite easy to imagine yourself a shepherd from 100 years ago, overlooking your flock of sheep whilst watching the sun go down over the mountain awaiting the glorious star filled night skies.
You will need to bring all the usual camping gear – bedding, pillows, towels cooking equipment. You’ll find your Cook – House at the rear of the Shepherds Hut, where you can site and use your gas stove and cool-box. There is plenty of room to store everything you need to bring. For those who wish to stay but do not own camping equipment, you can hire the basics from us :- gas stove, kettle, coolbox and firepit. We also sell large nets of wood and gas cartridges.
The Shepherds Hut is amazing value for money at only £15 per person, per night (based on 4 berth) and extremely Eco-friendly, fitted with a solar panel to provide lighting as well as power for charging your phone, iPad or small devices via 2 USB connectors. The Bio-digester services the waste from the individual bathrooms, which are a short walk away, with ceramic flushing toilets, showers and pedestal basins. An additional Solar Array provides power for the water heating and electric. A truly ‘Green’ holiday choice.
Willow Springs Campsite is situated on the border of the Afan Forest Park, with it’s 64 sq km of forestry there is an abundance of amazing walks ( incl the Richard Burton Trails), cycle trails and wildlife to experience, and still less than 30 mins from our fabulous Aberavon beach. Due to being located next to the forestry you may encounter Insects/midges, mainly at dawn and dusk. Most people manage this with a suitable repellent. The Shepherds hut has insect screens fitted.

Sorry but we do not allow dogs to stay in the Shepherds Hut. Please book a camping hut if you wish to bring your dog. There is strictly no smoking/ Vaping in the Shepherds Hut or Cook-House.
